A 12-week ‘Home Activity Programme’ for those living with Dementia and their Carers has now been set-up by Greenbuttercup CIC. The programme will comprise: a fortnightly ‘Craft Pack’ – with instruction sheet, and all materials necessary to carry out the craft (posted/delivered); and an ‘Activity Sheet’ the following week with ideas for activities which can be carried out at home (emailed). A theme will link the two where possible. The experience of running an ‘Arts & Crafts’ group and ‘Sensory Experiences’ for people living with Dementia over the past few years, will enable crafts and activities to be devised, which are suitable for those living with Dementia and who are confined to their homes. Greenbuttercup CIC will also endeavour to find ways to help isolation feel less isolating. This could be by sharing pictures of what people have made via their website, and through Social Media sites including those of Romsey Dementia Action Group and Andover Mind. Another idea is to make up a display of people’s work, which could be put somewhere in town – maybe in the shop window of a business which is unable to trade at the moment. In this way, it is hoped that those involved could still feel part of a group.
